Accountancy / Tax Support

I am 63 and live at SE13 5FY. I draw an NHS pension circa £34k pa. I have paid £2800 pa, in 2021/22 and 2022/23, into a Self-Invested Pension Plan (SIPP) and received tax top-ups of 20%. I save £16000 pa. I have Stocks and Shares ISAs worth £61k (and have used this year’s allowance), General Shares Fund Accounts worth £106k, and cash savings of £10k. I have not needed to complete a self-assessment tax return to date. Since April 2022, I have freelanced as a management consultant / facilitator / executive coach. I haven’t registered as a company. I currently operate as a sole trader putting income through a Monzo business account. I expect my earnings in this tax year (2022 – 2023), excluding business expenses, from these activities to significantly exceed £16k but be less than £66k. This takes me into me into the 40% tax bracket for total earnings (inc. £34k pension) above £50k. I also have incurred and been re-imbursed business related expenses. I have complete records of these. Although relatively simple in scope and modest in value, I believe I now need professional assistance as follows: • Completion of self-assessment form for 2022 / 23 and on-going (either as sole trader or as Ltd company – see below) • Advice about value / necessity of registering as a Ltd company and assistance if this is the best course of action. If this is best, the preparation of annual company accounts. • Advice about how to maximise tax-advantage of SIPP contributions. I believe it may be beneficial for me to pay most of my non-expense related income from these sources into my SIPP and get tax relief at 20% and 40% rates. I would like to know if this is a sensible way of managing my money to best advantage, and if so, how to do that via contribution rates and tax claims / assessment.
